Section 2

Your October goal

Your goal is simple: walk 200,000 total steps during October.

6,452
steps / day
45,161
steps / week
200K
by Oct 31

You do NOT have to hit exactly 6,452 steps every single day.

This is a cumulative challenge. Walk more when you can. Walk less when life gets busy. Just keep adding steps toward 200K.

Day 15,800
Day 27,200
Day 36,900
Running total19,900 / 200,000

Consistency > perfection.

Section 3

How it works

1. Walk

Move throughout your day however it works for you — outdoor walks, a walking pad, the treadmill, walking while your kids play, parking farther away, 10-minute walks, laps around the house. It ALL counts.

2. Track

You don't need a fancy watch — your phone already counts your steps for free. Check your step counter at the end of the day, then enter the total into your Walktober Tracker.

Free apps that count your steps

  • Apple Health (iPhone) or Google Fit (Android) — already on your phone, counts automatically
  • MapMyWalk — maps your route, distance, duration and pace
  • Strava — great if you like seeing walks on a map and cheering friends on
  • Pacer — super simple step counter with daily goals

All free. Any of them works — just log your daily total in your Walktober Tracker.

3. Watch it add up

Your tracker calculates your October total, % of 200K, steps remaining, daily average, days completed, and what you need to average from here. Behind pace? You're still in this — every step counts.

Section 4

Easy ways to get more steps

You do not need to get all your steps in one walk.

Three 10-minute walks count just as much as one longer walk.

  • Take a 10-minute walk after breakfast
  • Take a 10-minute walk after lunch
  • Take a 10-minute walk after dinner
  • Walk while you're on the phone
  • Park farther away
  • Take the stairs
  • Walk while waiting for kids at practices
  • Use a walking pad while watching TV or working
  • Take a lap around the store before shopping
  • Set an hourly reminder to move for 5 minutes
  • Walk while listening to a podcast or audiobook
  • Break your steps into smaller walks

Section 5

Missed a day? Good news: you didn't ruin anything.

200K is a cumulative goal. No punishment workouts, no doubling up. Just:

  1. 1. Open your tracker.
  2. 2. Look at your remaining steps.
  3. 3. See the average you need for the remaining days.
  4. 4. Keep going.
"You don't need another Monday. You just need your next walk."

Want to support your fat-loss goals too?

Walking is an incredible habit to build — but if fat loss is one of your goals, what you do in the kitchen matters too.

When your walking routine is paired with an appropriate calorie deficit, enough protein, and meals you can actually stick with, you have a much clearer plan for working toward your goal.

And I've already handled the "what am I eating this week?" part for you.
